Announcing IRL: internet <-> real life premiering at BOS, (Bushwick Open Studios), June 1st and 2nd from 12pm to 7pm, 56 Bogart St, 4th Floor
IRL: internet <-> real life will premier as part of Bushwick Open Studios. The exhibit finds threads weaving throughout the works of six artists connected via social media, and presents these correlations in a physical space. From across the US, the artists participating are Katarina Wong New York, NY, Joanie Gagnon San Chirico Toms River, NJ, Carol Salmanson Brooklyn, NY, Maritza Ruiz-Kim San Francisco, CA, Laura Isaac Kansas City, KS and Carla Gannis Brooklyn, NY.
Each work in the artist's varied media speaks to relationships which form in online communities and subsequently in physical exchanges. In addition to paintings, included in the exhibit are light sculptures, text, drawing, digital paintings, textiles, video and ceramics.
